Can't Remove Your Bulb? What is a Sealed Beam Headlight?

Hello Fellow OPT7-ites,

From Wikipedia-"A sealed beam is a type of unitized lamp with a parabolic reflector, one or more filaments, and a glass or polycarbonate lens all permanently attached together and sealed. Originally introduced for road vehicle headlamp service, sealed beams have since been applied elsewhere. Halogen sealed beam lamps have an inbuilt halogen lamp with the filaments contained in a quartz or hard glass envelope."

The most relevant information is that the bulb and assembly cannot be separated, so conversion from halogen to HID or LED is not possible. As both conversion kits require the original bulb to be removed.

If you are insistent on converting the headlights to HID or LED, then many after market headlight assemblies will allow the original bulb to be replaced.

Gratefully,
